Sujata Bhat

Profile Dr. Sujata Bhat is an internationally recognized bonsai artist, educator, demonstrator, judge, and author with over 40 years of experience in bonsai. She serves as First Vice-President of Bonsai Clubs International (BCI), President of the Bonsai Study Group of the Indo-Japanese Association, Mumbai, and Vice-President of the Indo-Japanese Association. A Ph.D. in Biochemistry from IIT Bombay and a Gold Medalist from Bangalore University, Dr. Bhat left a successful scientific career to pursue bonsai full-time. She has demonstrated and judged at major national and international bonsai conventions across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Iwasaki Medal for Contribution to Bonsai and the BCI Artist, Writer & Photographer Award. Beyond bonsai, Dr. Bhat is an accomplished Ikebana teacher, sitar artist, and student of Japanese language and Hindustani classical music.
