Renowned Lingnan bonsai master Guo Pei and his delegation visited Baowen Garden

On the tenth day of the first lunar month in the Bingwu Year of the Horse, with spring scenery at its best and the festive atmosphere still strong, renowned Lingnan bonsai master Guo Pei, accompanied by bonsai artists and enthusiasts from Liuzhou, Yulin, and other places, visited Baowen Garden. They admired fine trees and shared their craftsmanship, taking the lead and embarking on a new journey on the path of bonsai art exchange in 2026. BCI Chairman Chen Chang personally received them and shared the elegant pleasures of bonsai art. BCI China Vice Chairman Chen Zhaonian, Secretary-General Xu Dongting, and BCI China Master Luo Zhijie accompanied the reception.
During the visit, Chairman Chen Chang and Master Guo Pei's group strolled through Baowen Garden, carefully appreciating the garden's exquisite bonsai. They engaged in in-depth exchanges on aspects ranging from stump selection and styling concepts to maintenance insights and aesthetic principles, exchanging skills on the spot and sharing creative reflections, their words brimming with sincere passion for bonsai art. The garden owner and visiting guests made friends through trees and conveyed emotions through art, sparking artistic inspiration in the warm spring atmosphere and jointly exploring the path of inheritance and development for Lingnan bonsai.
Master Guo Pei has been deeply engaged in Lingnan bonsai for decades, rooted in Guangzhou's Fangcun, a thriving hub of Lingnan bonsai. He is recognized in the industry as a figure of genuine skill, upholding original aspirations with craftsmanship and transmitting cultural heritage through innovation. The master excels in classic techniques such as weeping branches, cascading branches, and floating branches, favoring unusual stumps and materials, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary and integrating nature into miniature landscapes. He has created nearly two thousand classic works, including "Twin Heroes Competing in Splendor," "Ancient Dance with Graceful Charm," and "Soaring to Embrace the Moon." His style is distinctive and his artistic conception lofty, adhering to the essence of Lingnan bonsai's "trunk chopping and branch nurturing" while boldly breaking conventions, infusing traditional art with modern vitality. With a low-key, diligent, and rigorous craftsman's demeanor, he has become a benchmark for the inheritance and innovation of Lingnan bonsai.
