Shunde Leliu Bonsai and Horticulture Association Study Tour Visits Baowen Garden

On May 9, Liao Yanchun, President of the Shunde Leliu Penjing and Horticulture Association, led a study group of about 50 members to Baowen Garden for a penjing art exchange and study event. Both sides used art to make friends and exchange skills, discussing the grand plan for the inheritance and development of Lingnan penjing, successfully completing a high-quality traditional penjing cultural exchange event. As the host of this exchange, Mr. Chen Chang, President of Bonsai Clubs International (BCI) and Chairman of BCI China, and owner of Baowen Garden, personally received the guests throughout the event, expressing warm and sincere welcome to President Liao Yanchun and all colleagues from the Shunde Leliu Penjing and Horticulture Association.
At the symposium, President Chen Chang introduced in detail to the visiting penjing colleagues the development history of Baowen Garden, its philosophy of artistic inheritance, as well as the work and achievements of our garden in promoting Lingnan penjing culture, advancing domestic and international penjing art exchanges, and cultivating penjing technique talents. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the inheritance of Lingnan penjing techniques, innovative development of the industry, and co-construction of regional penjing culture, freely sharing artistic insights and jointly planning the future development of the industry, building a close bridge for industry exchange.
At the symposium, President Liao Yanchun of the Shunde Leliu Penjing and Horticulture Association, on behalf of the association, presented a commemorative gift to President Chen Chang of our garden, expressing heartfelt thanks, to commemorate this friendly exchange, maintain the deep friendship between the penjing industries of the two regions, and jointly promote the vigorous development of Lingnan penjing art.
To enable the study group members to deeply appreciate the artistic essence of Lingnan penjing, President Chen Chang accompanied the guests on a stroll through the garden, carefully appreciating various exquisite penjing masterpieces in the collection, explaining one by one the creative concept, artistic conception, styling ideas, and creation process of each work, unreservedly imparting the unique layout concepts of Lingnan penjing and core techniques such as branch storage and trunk cutting, branch pruning, and styling and wiring, meticulously sharing practical experience in daily penjing maintenance, water and fertilizer management, plant rejuvenation, and long-term cultivation. He patiently and carefully answered questions encountered by everyone in the process of penjing creation and maintenance, creating a strong and lively atmosphere of on-site exchange. The study group members listened attentively, learned diligently, and gained a lot.
In this exchange event, the visiting study group had a complete lineup, with the core management of the association all present, including Feng Fuqiang, President of the Shunde Penjing Association and Executive President of the Shunde Leliu Penjing and Horticulture Association; association advisors Zhou Xixiang and He Yanbang; Vice Presidents Liang Weiguo, Zhang Jianrong, Huang Zeming, and Liang Wumei; Secretary-General He Weiquan; Chief Supervisor Xian Jianrong and other key members, as well as many senior penjing practitioners and enthusiasts from the association. Chen Zhaonian, Vice Chairperson of the Guangdong Women's Federation and Vice Chairman of BCI China; Xu Dongting, Secretary-General of BCI China; Luo Zhijie and Du Jiankun, Deputy Secretaries-General of BCI China; and senior technicians of Baowen Garden, Li Wencai, Guo Shaobo, Zhong Zhiyong, Xu Xiping, and others, accompanied and participated in the reception and exchange throughout, fully ensuring the smooth progress of the study exchange event.
The visit of the study group from the Shunde Leliu Penjing and Horticulture Association to Baowen Garden is another important initiative of Baowen Garden to promote interaction within the regional penjing industry and to inherit and promote traditional Lingnan penjing culture. It not only built a high-quality platform for penjing colleagues to learn from each other and exchange techniques, but also further shortened the distance between penjing enthusiasts from different places, fostering deep friendship and unity within the industry. In the future, Baowen Garden will continue to keep its doors open for exchanges, actively carry out various penjing art exchange and study activities, adhere to the original intention of inheriting the intangible cultural heritage techniques of Lingnan penjing, gather the strength of all parties in the industry, and fully promote the popularization of penjing culture and the high-quality development of the industry, so that the traditional Chinese penjing art can be passed down from generation to generation and flourish.
