2000 Ben Oki International Design Award Entry
Ficus philippinense by Gadiel Gonzalez Jr,
Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, USA.

Gadiel acquired the tree in 1994 in its initial stage
of design. It is currently
60 inches wide and 32 inches tall. Aerial roots were developed
by
wrapping the trunk in burlap to retain moisture. As roots began
to
develop, they were directed to the soil through drinking straws.
It is repotted twice annually.
The container is gray, matte finish, 32 inches wide and 2.5 inches
deep.
